Data Platform Engineering Lead:
- The Data Platform Engineering Lead will be responsible for managing a cross-functional Data Warehouse platform hosted in Google Cloud Platform.
- The platform itself is still experiencing a rapid growth of end-users / demand, so there will be a need to balance both operational/support needs in additional to delivery of new capital deliverables.
- The selected candidate should have significant experience in GCP, with specific focus around BigQuery, Logging, IAM, GKE, Cloud Functions, DataFlow, Cloud Composer Cross-Cloud architecture, and Shared VPC Networking. Outside of GCP, the Data Platform Engineering Lead must also have experience with standard DevOps practices, CICD pipelines, and operating in an Agile environment.
- In addition to the technical responsibilities, the ideal candidate must be able to operate as a Product Owner for the platform managing Azure Dev Ops boards, Aha Roadmaps, backlogs and priorities.
- Due to the high visibility of this platform, the selected candidate must have very strong communication skills and capable of presenting to large audiences varying from developers to senior leaders.
- The Data Platform Engineering Lead should embrace the challenge of dealing with new and complex problems, understanding how to apply technologies to solve those problems via innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of senior data engineers to deliver new capabilities for the platform
- Managing product backlog & priorities
- Defining Acceptance criteria
- Collaborating with Delivery teams to provide re-usable pipelines
- Hands-on technical responsibilities to ensure the platform is stable and capable to deep-dive into complex, unexpected errors
- Defining & implementing cross-cloud architecture (GCP, AWS, Azure)
What you'll need to be successful:
- Expertise in GCP services and evaluating technology for specific use-cases
- Experience building / managing CICD pipelines
- DevOps experience
- Expertise in Data Warehousing
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
- Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, written and oral communication
- Ability to solve complex issues with re-usable frameworks
- Ability to quickly learn technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Apache Beam, and Kafka
